A mixed media composition featuring Rev. Jack Yates’ daughters riding a flower-covered chariot at Houston’s Emancipation Park, printed on a premium snow-washed bamboo slub tee in limestone.
This shirt celebrates what becomes possible when we are informed, empowered, and free to imagine. Rev. Jack Yates—a formerly enslaved man—purchased and helped develop Emancipation Park as sacred ground for Black joy, remembrance, and community gathering. His story reflects the kind of visionary leadership and spiritual conviction that Juneteenth continues to inspire.
The front design blends painting and archival photography in tribute to the collaborative nature of creation, memory, and imagination. On the back, the phrase “God Bless Juneteenth” anchors the design in the spiritual legacy of emancipation—reminding us that for many, Juneteenth was an answered prayer.
This tee is a collectible garment made with premium quality fabric and finishing. The snow-washed bamboo slub material offers a uniquely soft texture, with high breathability and moisture-wicking performance. It’s the kind of shirt that lasts—meant to be worn, treasured, and passed on.
The artwork features a custom painting by Houston native, painter, archivist, and professor Mitchell Reece, created in collaboration with Blacks of Are.na to honor.
